The Reason Behind This Eid

After years of crying for Imam Hussain (A.S) and his companions, it was this time of the year when Imam Ali bin Husasin Zain ul Abideen (A.S) had a smile on his face. Imam Sajjad (A.S) received good news that the great companion and a true Shia who goes by the name of Hazrat Mukhtar Sakfi (R.A) has taken revenge for the Ahl-e-Bayt(A.S) (out of passion not credits)  and killed off many of the criminals (Killers of Imam Hussain(A.S), his relatives and companions who are known as the 72 shaheed) who tortured the Ahl-e-Bayt (A.S) in Karbala. Today we salute this great companion for his true service and contribution to the true Islam.

This was the day of 9th of Rabi'a al-Awwal, when the rascal Umar(L.A) ibn Sa'ad ibn Abi Waqas (L.A) [the killer of Imam Hussain (A.S)] was killed by Hazrat Mukhtar (R.A). This was the wretched, ignorant and selfish criminal who was the first one to shoot an arrow towards Imam Hussain (A.S) on the 9th of Muharram 61 A.H. thus formally starting the war against Imam Hussain (A.S) !

And he proclaimed,

" O people of Kufa and Shaam, be witness here to on the Day of Judgment, that I am the one who is the first to shoot an arrow at Hussain " !

And after saying this on the plains of Karbala, straight away he shot the arrow towards our 3rd Imam Hussain Al-Shaheed (A.S)!

Later, Imam Hussain (A.S) told them (the army of Yazid (L.A) whose commander was this Umar (L.A) ibn Sa'ad ibn abi Waqas (L.A) ) after delivering an eye-opening Khutba, that he needs to have a night for prayers! 

Hazrat Mukhtar (R.A) announced the aims of his revolution in Masjid-e-Kufa,

" I'll conform to Allah's (S.W.T) Book (Qur'an) and to His Apostle's Sunnah. I'll take the revenge on Imam Hussain's (A.S) killers. I'll fight against those who have broken Allah's laws. I'll defend the weak against the strong by all means necessary. "

It is only the lucky ones who have the opportunity to celebrate this Eid!

This was the day when for the first time after the massacre of his father Imam Hussain (A.S), his relatives (brothers, sons and nephews) & his companions that the 4th Imam Zain ul Abideen (A.S) smiled! Is this not enough an excuse to celebrate ? Imam Zain ul Abideen (A.S) cried non-stop from the day he saw Shimar (L.A) leave imprints of his hand on Bibi Sakina's (S.A) face. For our joys are with the joys of Masumeen (A.S) and our grief and sorrows are for them alone!
